Rob & Daeng Garnsey

Rob and Daeng Garnsey are long term missionaries serving in Chiang Mai, Thailand. They have been married for 14 years and have two daughters, Natalie and Motannoy. Rob has lived in Thailand for the past 16 years and Daeng is a Thai national and has been a Christian for 30 years.

Rob has a heart to create strong communities by building ‘project based’ work in Chiang Mai. Daeng has a leadership, preaching, and mentorship mantle upon her life as well as a gift in management and administration. Daeng has an ability to identify the needs in the communities they work in, and through her networking, is able to mobilise others to partner with them to assist with those needs.

Rob and Daeng founded their community development project, Seeds of Hope Thailand, which is based in Hang Dong. Their goal is to train local men and women to gain skills in building, project management, designing plans, budgeting and learning trades such as welding, blocklaying, plumbing and other facets of the building trade.

The Seeds of Hope property includes a training facility where much of the skills are taught. In addition to this, the facility enables further community building projects to take place such as constructing playgrounds for both in the city and in very remote villages.

Through this ministry they also assist people who are  disadvantaged by either building or repairing their homes. They also feed many poor and vulnerable families, which gives them opportunity to encourage them in the Lord.

Rob has built a great relationship with two Buddhist mayors in neighboring communities and together they desire to create better living conditions for many of those living in poverty, in those communities.

Rob always says: “I believe it is important to be all things to all people”, and this is what drives Rob and Daeng in their ministry.
